Shelbyville High School and Moulton Middle School Ensembles
All 5th-8th grade band members will need to turn in practice sheets every week (5th-8th grade: 60 min).
These will be due every Friday. These will be worth 25 pts each.
Using the practice rooms and practicing in the band room before/ after school will count towards your practice sheet.
5th Grade Beginning Band
Students at Moulton M.S. have the opportunity to join the band program during their 5th grade year of the fall semester. During this ensemble, the students will be introduced to the beginning levels of performance-based ensemble playing on an instrument. Listening tests and instrument testing will take place throughout August and September.
The 5th grade band will perform at the holiday and spring concerts.
Spring Concert - April 25th - 6pm - Moulton Gymnasium
6th Grade Band
This group will perform a variety of music and will perform at 3 concerts throughout the school year.
7th Grade Band
This group will perform a variety of music and will perform at 3 concerts throughout the school year.
8th Grade Band
This group will perform a variety of music and will perform at 3 concerts throughout the school year. Selected students will also have the opportunity to perform at football/basketball games. They must test with Mrs. Astrouski.
Ukulele Club
This ensemble was established the spring of 2017. As long as you own a ukulele and would like to learn you can join this group. The group will practice during homeroom/flex on Tuesdays (Beginners) and Thursdays (Advanced - Audition only group).
High School Band
This is the leading instrumental ensemble for the Shelbyville School District. This ensemble is comprised of students that have given time and dedication to the program for four years or have proven their musicianship in the advanced levels of performance. This ensemble performs at all home football and basketball games and the homecoming and Scarecrow Daze parades. All performances are a requirement for a class. All performance dates can be found on the performance dates tab as well as handouts that are given out on a regular basis. A schedule for the entire year is given out before the end of the previous year and given out again the first day of school. This ensemble performs advanced band repertoire. Students who have not been a part of the class for at least 1 year must audition in order to be accepted in to the band program.
